Eric Nilsson


Eric Nilsson is returning to Inspire after helping found the school in 2010 and working as Inspire’s principal until 2015.  He graduated from California State University, Chico and continued on to get his Masters in English with an emphasis in creative writing.  

He has served as an Assistant Principal for Pleasant Valley High School, the Smaller Learning Communities Director for Chico and Pleasant Valley High School, and he taught English for both Chico and Gridley High Schools.

He is the proud father of three children – Georgia, Taylor and Lilly – and is married to Julie Anderson-, also an educator, for 32 years. 

Dan La Bar

Associate Principal
Dan has served as Inspire’s Assistant Principal since 2011 supporting all administrative functions. He has held a variety of positions in schools since he started coaching in 1999. Dan proudly completed two terms with AmeriCorps recruiting mentors with the Chico High Academic Mentoring Program (CHAMP) and coordinated volunteer efforts in Chico that were honored nationally by the Points of Light Foundation and USA Weekend Magazine.

 Beyond this, Dan coached competitive volleyball for over 10 years from middle school electives to international competition. He also served as a commissioner of the Northern California Collegiate Volleyball League and on the advisory council with the National Collegiate Volleyball Federation. These days, he is focused on supporting the amazing staff at Inspire and his own team including his wife Trelawney and three amazing children Jonah, Tobin, and Bayliss.
