Based on the 1931 play “Green Grow the Lilacs,” by Lynn Riggs, Oklahoma! is the first musical written by the legendary team of Richard Rodgers & Oscar Hammerstein II. Inspire School of Arts & Sciences is proud to present a full-length production of this coming of age classic to celebrate 10 years of performing arts at Inspire. Come enjoy this classic love story with the whole family. Laurey is a headstrong farm girl and the woman with whom both cowboy Curly and farmhand Jud have fallen in love. When she plays hard-to-get with earnest Curly and instead accepts dangerous Jud’s invitation to the upcoming box social to raise money for a new school house, tensions rise between the men and capture the interest of the whole town. Set in 1906, performed and envisioned by Inspire students, and partnered with a live student and community orchestra, this grand-scale musical runs from February 22 to March 1 at the Center for the Arts in Chico. Inspire will revive this classic in true Inspire style, celebrating our first ten years with you!!!
