Student Equity Meeting

July 22, 2020, by Sandii Buckman

Dear Students,

Many of us have been mulling over the events of the last several months.  Even though we are in the midst of a tragic pandemic, it is important for us, as a school, to not forget about the brutality that has happened against Black bodies in the last several months, as well as in the entire history of our country.  Madame Principal Brown and faculty feel it’s important that students are leading the way in helping us focus on equity as a school.

We are also instituting How to be an Anti-Racist by Ibram X. Kendi as our ‘book in common’ this year.  This text will help us realize our own bias and blind spots.  In addition, it will lead to many meaningful discussions about our place within this turbulent world.

We want to hear your thoughts in regards to how we should proceed as a campus as we continue to develop a plan to tackle issues of access, equity and inclusion.  Please join us for a meeting next Wednesday (7/22) at 2pm via Zoom and be prepared to share your thoughts and ideas.
