Beth Reid

About

Beth Reid was hired at Inspire in 2011 after seven years of teaching in the North State. She teaches Spanish, Health, and Advisory. Beth earned her teaching credential from Chico State after graduating with degrees in Spanish and Latin American Studies. She learned Spanish studying abroad in Mexico and traveling throughout Latin America. She first fell in love with languages as a child. She grew up in Fresno and Vancouver, BC, where she began learning French at age 10. Beth serves on the board of the local chapter of California Language Teachers’ Association and advises International Club and bi-anual educational tour experiences for Inspire students. Mrs. Reid is passionate about awakening students’ appreciation for world cultures, the fun of speaking another tongue, and the dignity it brings when one reaches across differences to learn another perspective. She also loves examining health science, along with her colleagues, and challenging students to think critically about how they choose to care for their bodies and communities. When not spreading the love of maps, words, and chocolate, Beth may be found reading for book club, rallying her friends around a good cause, cooking something (not according to the recipe), or at a Chico Wildcat game with her husband and two kids.
