About

Ms. Metzger is a Chico native, having attended Chico High School before going on to get her undergraduate degree in biology from UC Santa Cruz. (Go, banana slugs!) In the years following her graduation, Ms. Metzger ventured abroad where she worked briefly in Kathmandu, Nepal; and then in Prague, Czech Republic, to teach English for a semester.

Back in Chico, she earned her MS degree in Molecular Biology from Chico State while simultaneously instructing several of the university’s Biology 101 lab sections.  Discovering that she liked being in the classroom as much as working in the laboratory–if not more–Ms. Metzger ultimately pursued a teaching credential in 2014 and has been teaching in the Chico area since: First at an alternative education vocational program for at-risk youth; then at Marsh Junior High School, where she taught science and STEM for seven years–thus sparking her interest in robotics and engineering. 2024 will mark Ms. Metzger’s first year teaching at Inspire (although she has been peripherally involved since its inception). She is thrilled to be part of such an awesome team.

When she is not at school you can find her paddle boarding on the Sac., bike riding, skiing, cooking, traveling, or playing with her Labradane puppy. She is also passionate about live music, Irish step dancing, classic film and literature, and marine biology.
