Dear Inspire Families,
Inspire School of Arts & Sciences is at a crucial point in our efforts to provide a school campus that is adequate to house our students and programs. It’s important that our community know:
- We are NOT in danger of losing the current campus we share with Chico High. Until our facilities situation is resolved we are not going anywhere, and will continue to provide excellent learning in our Inspire home.
- We ARE in danger of losing $8 million in state facilities grant funding if Chico Unified School District does not work with Inspire to develop a viable plan for a new campus.
In the last two months, members of the Chico Unified School Board voted against two options that would have put us back on track to completing our facilities grant project. The district has not presented a solution, nor do we expect them to put Inspire on the upcoming Board agenda. Without your help and support, we could lose $8 million in grant funding that would help us relocate to a new site or replace the 30-year-old portable buildings that house the majority of our programs. We urgently need the district to partner with us to give our students and staff the school they deserve.
Please consider helping us by:
- Showing up at the Chico Unified Board meeting on May 17 at 6:00 p.m. at the Marigold School Multipurpose Room as a show of support for the school we love.
- Sending an email to PublicComment@chicousd.org to tell your story about what our school does for students, and why our school facility needs are so urgent.
We are hopeful that by respectfully and firmly asking the district to partner with us on a solution for our grant project, we can move forward together on a campus plan that fits the needs of our school.
Thank you, as always, for your help and support! Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me if you have questions, and look for an upcoming Inspire Facilities Town Hall where we can share information and ideas with each other.
With gratitude and hope,
Becky Brown
