Marysol de la Torre-Escobedo

Marysol de la Torre-Escobedo received her Bachelor’s Degree from UC Berkeley and her Clear Social Science Teaching Credential and M.A. in Education from Stanford University. In 2002, she began her teaching career as a founding member of East Palo Alto Academy High School. As a founding member of EPAAHS, Marysol worked closely with the Stanford School Redesign Network and their efforts in meeting the needs of all students and creating a model of school reform. Marysol has taught AVID, Economics, Spanish, World History, AP US History, and US History in a variety of educational settings. Her teaching experience has spanned the Bay Area, the Dominican Republic, the Glenn County Juvenile Court School, and Pleasant Valley High School. In 2010, she became a co-founding teacher of Inspire School of Arts & Sciences. In 2015 Marysol was appointed by Governor Brown to serve on the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing. Governor Newsom reappointed Marysol in 2019 and she continues to be honored to serve the students of California in this capacity. Marysol grew up in Hamilton City, CA and is the first generation daughter of Mexican immigrants. She loves family, traveling, and going on adventures with her husband and two children.
